Cuattro Casa de Café, located in Troncones, Guerrero, is a project that brings together architecture, landscape, and sensory experience under a clear premise: to build from the context. Conceived as a café integrating a restaurant, bakery, artisan retail area and a private office, the space is organized with precision and coherence to respond to the local climate, terrain, and daily life of the site.

The decision to preserve the existing vegetation defined the entire layout. The original trees were not only conserved but became key design drivers: one of them dictates the opening in the terrace slab, while the others create a central open-air corridor that separates the main volumes. This passage enables cross-ventilation, brings in natural light, and establishes a sequence of controlled views that enrich the spatial experience.

The material palette was selected with a functional and contextual approach. Given the region’s warm climate, the project uses exposed concrete for its thermal stability, endemic wood for its durability and harmony with the landscape, and gray gravel in permeable areas to respect the natural ground and allow rainwater to filter into the subsoil. This selection ensures efficient thermal performance and reduces dependence on mechanical systems, prioritizing passive comfort.

Inside, the proposal is complemented by locally crafted elements: clay luminaires, artisanal ceramics, wooden furniture, and Mexican-made objects that contribute identity without overpowering the space. The palette is measured, tactile, and consistent, reinforcing the intention to create fresh, bright environments with a clearly defined regional character.

The architectural program is clearly organized: a restaurant area open to the surrounding vegetation, a bakery visible to users, a shop dedicated to Mexican handcrafted products, and a private office. Each function integrates seamlessly into a composition that maintains visual and spatial continuity.

Just five minutes from the shoreline, Cuattro Casa de Café leverages the site’s environmental conditions to create an interior experience that is coherent, efficient, and respectful of its context. Its architecture stands out for its integration with the terrain, its thoughtful use of local materials, and a precise organization that responds to both the programmatic needs and the coastal climate. The result is a contemporary, understated, and well-grounded project where the relationship between nature, materiality, and habitability defines its character.
