Located at the foot of the Gustave Roussy Institute, the station was inaugurated in January 2025. With some 50 meters separating the city from the platforms, the Villejuif-Gustave Roussy station, emblematic of the Grand Paris Express, is one of the deepest transportation infrastructures in Europe.

The Villejuif-Gustave-Roussy station serves the Zac Campus Grand-Parc and the Gustave-Roussy Institute, Europe’s leading cancer treatment center. Located on line 14, which extends south to Orly Airport, the station will also provide a connection to line 15 South, linking Pont-de-Sèvres to Noisy-Champs, from summer 2026, and will welcome 100,000 passengers per day.

Envisioned as a connector between the world above and the world below, the station’s architecture elevates the infrastructure and the moment of travel: blurring the boundaries between open and closed spaces, opening its floor to the public space of the street, it does not oppose the city with a built facade and allows air and natural light to circulate down to the platforms fifty meters below ground.

An invitation to a “journey within a journey,” the route is peaceful but not without flavor: the soaring escalators and staircases create an extraordinary Piranesian space that infiltrates the fabric of the territory and extends the vertical dynamics of access to the transportation networks with the movements of the city.
