The building originally operated as a medical laboratory within a health clinic that has since closed. After the property was leased to a new tenant, the space was reimagined and transformed into a community venue that also serves as a neighborhood coffee shop.

Facing west, the building receives intense afternoon sunlight. To mitigate this, the façade was partially screened using frosted glass blocks and gently curved walls, softening daylight and creating dynamic shadow patterns throughout the day. Inside, we first evaluated the existing partitions and the overall spatial limitations of the leased structure. The seating area was then divided into two zones using frosted glass blocks, allowing for semi-private pockets of space while preventing visual overcrowding.

At the heart of the layout, the coffee bar was positioned centrally to anchor the main activity and maintain direct access to the kitchen and service area. A 'dead corner' created by the original layout was converted into a “mirror selfie” spot, with a large mirror installed to visually enlarge the narrow corridor leading to the restroom. The building’s exterior was finished with terracotta-tinted cement, referencing the surrounding local color palette while giving the façade a distinct presence in its neighborhood.
