面向所有「空间类」机构，参评类别具体包括方案（建筑、景观、室内）、技术顾问（结构、机电、交通、幕墙等）、专业顾问（策展、多媒体、标识与导视等）、特色顾问（前期策划顾问、可持续工程顾问等）四大类及其94项细分类别。

Targeting all "space-related" institutions, the categories for participation specifically include four major categories: schemes (architecture, landscape, interior), technical consultants (structural, mechanical and electrical, transportation, curtain wall, etc.), professional consultants (curation, multimedia, signage and wayfinding, etc.), and specialized consultants (preliminary planning consultants, sustainable engineering consultants, etc.), as well as 94 subcategories under these major categories. Without distinguishing between subcategories, selections were chosen from the TOP1 in all of the subcategories to be awarded the Outstanding Prize.

Several attributes set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style, including its pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colourful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration. Notre-Dame is also exceptional for its three pipe organs (one historic) and its immense church bells.
