Pendant Light A440 has a sculptural quality that can be appreciated whether switched on or off. Made from hand-blown glass, the A440 embodies Alvar Aalto’s signature streamlined aesthetic, while the light it provides is characteristically diffuse. When illuminated, light disperses through the opal white glass evenly and without glare.
Combining a polished brass collar with a black leather stand, the A811 features a single hand-turned shade made of delicate, lacquered metal strips that prevent glare by diffusing light evenly. The A811 was the last addition to Alvar Aalto’s range of floor lights.
The A331, nicknamed “Beehive,” is one of Alvar Aalto’s most popular lighting designs. Suitable for both home settings and public spaces, “Beehive” creates a warm, diffuse light when switched on, a result of the ingenious design that features several rows of perforated steel rings. True to its nickname, “Beehive” retains its distinctive sculptural presence even when unlit and was originally designed for Finland’s University of Jyväskylä in 1953.
Perfect alone or in a group, the small, round “Bilberry” is particularly suited to spotlighting interior features such as paintings or surfaces. The beautiful A338 embodies Alvar Aalto’s genius for detail and is allegedly named after his favourite berry.
Wall Light A330S is a complement to Alvar Aalto’s popular sculptural pendant light. Its perforated rim creates a memorable halo effect and prevents glare, providing a light that is warm toned. Available in handspun brass, or powder-coated steel in either black or white, Wall Light A330S is an elegant reading light next to a bed, armchair or desk or warmly illuminating a kitchen table.
